The Gemini Offshore Wind Farm required export cables to be installed under two existing submarine cables.
Due to strong currents and very shallow water depths, WaveWalker 1 was required to carry out the horizontal drilling operations for the two cable ducts, separated by 25m.
The jack-up used its walking ability to move precisely and unscathed without interruption between locations and the existing cables.
The central moonpool was covered and a directional drilling unit with a steering unit with a gyro compass, working to tolerances of millimetres, was installed for the horizontal drilling operations.
